Should I spay or neuter my Miniature Schnauzer?
http://www.angryvet.com/spaying-and-neutering/
Spay/neuter is commonly used as a means to control certain behavioral issues such as marking in male dogs, and to help prevent unwanted litters; however, we encourage you to wait until the dog is fully mature, or over 1 year old prior to subjecting them to this invasive procedure. This allows their bodies to fully mature with all of the necessary hormones for proper growth and development. Care must be taken to isolate females in heat from all male dogs for the duration of their cycle. This is usually about three weeks. We strongly discourage spay or neuter for dogs under six months.
